True Grit Pt. 4: He is ____, I am ____

Mathew 16:13-18 (KJV)

Who do you say Jesus is?
Who do you say you are?

Who do you say He is? The answer to this question does not define Him, but it does define all He will ever be to you!

Who is He? He is The Christ.

Contrary to popular belief, Christ is NOT Jesus’ last name. It is His title. His position.

Mathew 10:41 (KJV)

We must receive Jesus as more than just our savior. He is our Christ. Which means He is our healer, He is our provider, He is our liberator. He will never be, to you, more than you call Him to be!

Who do you say you are? Who you call yourself is all you will ever be.

Jesus is my healer, therefore, I am healed.
1 Peter 2:24

Jesus is my provider, therefore, I am financially free.
2 Corinthians 9:8

Jesus is my glory and the lifter of my head, therefore, I am emotionally sound. Psalms 3:3

Jesus is my peace, so I am not afraid. Ephesians 2:14

Jesus is my wisdom, so I always know exactly what to do.
1 Corinthians 1:30

Jesus is my Christ, so I am free from anything that says I can’t!
John 8:36

True Grit Pt. 3: Need a Miracle?

1. I would find a promise He has made concerning my situation.
God doesn’t have to do what we ask, but He will always do what He said.
Numbers 23:19 (KJV)
John 15:7(KJV)
Do you have the right to ask for that?
2. I would join my faith with a faith filled community.
Acts 4:23-24 (KJV)
3. I would examine my heart to see if there was anything the Father wanted me to do.
Rarely, all you can do is pray.
Quick to forgive and quick to repent.
4. I would rest in His promise with thanksgiving.
When you get to that place of rest, it’s only a matter of time till you see a miracle.

True Grit Pt. 2: Lifting Hands

1 Timothy 2:8 (KJV)
It’s the universal sign of surrender and submission.
Throughout history, lordship was always taken. But in Christianity Lordship is not taken, instead it’s given. We back down from our will and surrender to His.
Pride Prevents Miracles
1 Timothy 2;8 (KJV)
Wrath
Evil for Evil
Numbers 20:8-12 (KJV)
Psalms 106:32-33 (KJV)
Doubting
It’s our job to create as many life giving moments as possible.
Faith is always a pursuit.
The fight of Faith is when what we see contradicts what we’ve heard.

True Grit Pt. 1: Miracle: Water to Wine

John 2:1-11 (KJV)
ASK: If you want God to move, you’re going to have to move God.
Top two reasons people don’t pray.
1. Shame
2. Pride
Acts 3;12-13 (KJV)
Acts 3:16 (KJV)
Don’t think too little of yourself! It’s not about your goodness, it’s about He’s.
God loves pressure. He does not like when we try to protect Him or His reputation. He loves it when we have enough faith in Him to put Him on the spot.
Praise pressures performance.
He asked them to do something that was inconvenient and took tremendous amounts of courage.
Anytime God is asking you to do something in your present, it is because He is always trying to do something in your future.

Best Year Ever Pt. 3 Honoring Him

1 Samuel 2:28-30 (KJV)
Those who honor me, I will honor.
2 Timothy 2:20-21 (NLT)
Mark 6:2-5 (KJV)
Honor beings with options
Options show preference
Preference leads to choice
Choice shows honor
God is a God of desire. He doesn’t take desire away, He purifies it. The bulk of things the world pursues were all Gods’ idea.
When God is first, desires take their proper place. They are healthy, pure and add to our joy.
Problems arise though when He is not first. When we prefer the desire above the God who made it, God will challenge that desire and every time He does, It’s your chance to honor Him.
Mark 10:17-31 (KJV)
Money is very significant. There are more than 500 verses in the Bible concerning prayer and nearly 500 verses concerning faith, but 2000 verses on the subject of money and possessions. The reason? Money test our honor more than anything else.

Best Year Ever Pt. 2: Your TRUE Desire

Acts 7:20-35 (KJV)
John Eldridge: I continue to be stunned by the deadness that most people consider normal and seem to be contented to live with.
Example: If I could be more of what you wanted in a woman, what do you secretly wish I could offer you?
Clean Socks
It’s just not TRUE.
Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)
God is a God of unrelenting desire. Their is nothing “lukewarm” about His nature. As you draw near to Him, desire actually awakens.
Psalms 37:4 (KJV)
Holiness is not a loss of desire. It is restoration of desire.
Do you want to get well?
Most people give up on desire. Why? They don’t want to be disappointed.
Desire is like love. When it’s achieved it’s REALLY good. When it’s not it’s REALLY bad.
To desire something and not to have it is the basis of almost all pain, so we tone down our expectations. We true them into more manageable things. We call it being more realistic. We forsake adventure, romance and passion. We forsake desire.
That’s what the man at the pool was doing and Jesus knew that. He does something to fix it. He takes this man back to his TRUE desire.
You get to pick the life you want and these are your options:
You can spend it avoiding disappointment or pursuing life.
C. S. Lewis: I am almost committing an indecency. I am trying to rip open the inconsolable secret of each one of you. The secret which hurts so much that you take revenge on it by calling names like Nostalgia, Romanticism and Adolescence.
