1 Peter 2:24
24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Say this out loud: “By His stripes, I am healed”
John 14:9
9Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
There are 31 individual healings and 20 mass healings of Jesus in the gospels.
23 case studies of different healings that were studied for this message. The goal was to find: What did they have in common?
There were times where Jesus initiated the healings
John 5:2-8
2Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
There were times where people initiated the healing
Mathew 8:1-3
1When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
2And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped [notice the role of worship, a powerful way to press into God! -editor] him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
3And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Sometimes the healing was given through touch
Luke 14:1-4
1And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.
2And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.
3And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
4And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;
Sometimes the sickness was beat with the power of words
Luke 4:38-39
38And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
39And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
Sometimes people were healed with a combination of touch and spoken words
Luke 13:11-13
11And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
12And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
Of the 23 healings only six were initiated by Jesus. 17 were initiated by the individuals in need of healing. Go after your healing!
STEPS TO RECEIVE YOUR HEALING
1: If I’m going to receive healing I must make a decision to go after it aggressively and not relent until I see it.
Of the 23 miracles, Jesus, ministered healing the following ways:
In 10 he spoke the word only.
In 5 he touched them and his touch ministered healing.
In 8 He touched and spoke
2: Find someone who believes BIG in healing and ask them to lay hands on you
Mark 6:5
5And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
It appears the laying on of hands will work when nothing else will.
James 5:14-15
14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
3: Continue to hold fast the confession of your faith by boldly speaking first Peter 2:24 over your life.
In 18 of the 23 miracles of Jesus the word was spoken
Mathew 4:10 (NIV)
10Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
