The Great Adventure Pt. 1: The 3rd Son

Philippians 1:23-25

It’s better to be used by God than to be blessed by God.

3 John 1

The two most important things to find and stay connected to in this life are:
1. God the Father
2. God’s plan for your life

Luke 15:21-22
Luke 15:25-28

2 Corinthians 5:18-20

It’s wrong to have the entire focus of our Christianity to be the elimination of sin and the pursuit of the best. Jesus desires to give us a grace for both of those things, but also an unbridled passion for the reconciliation of the lost and hurting.

Safest place to be in all the will of God.

Jesus didn’t come to make us safe, He came to make us meaningful.

Hebrews 11:32-38

Is it safe?

Anything But Average Pt. 3: Anything but Average Goals

Success is: Growing to your fullest potential
Significance is: Sowing seeds that benefit others and enhance the Kingdom of God
There is no true success without discipline.
Hebrews 12:1
Hebrews 12 offers two examples
1. Jesus: He was successful and obviously very disciplined.
2. Esau: He was unsuccessful and undisciplined.
Hebrews 12:2
Jesus lived on purpose for a purpose. He had a goal set before Him that He was focused on. This led to a disciplined life that made His goal a reality.
Esau lived for pleasure. He lost sight of the goal that was set before him. This led to an undisciplined life which cost him his goal.
Proverbs 29:18 in the New American Standard
Everyone needs clearly defined written goals.
Zig Ziglar: You cannot make it as wandering generality. To be successful you must be a meaningful specific.
JC Penny: You give me a stock clerk with a goal and I’ll give you someone who will make history. You give me someone without goals and I’ll give you a stock clerk.
In the 1970’s Edwin Lock and Gary Latham studied success and found that people who were producing results across different fields had something in common. Something they called SMART goals.
They turned vague aspirations into concrete plans.
S: Specific
M: Measurable

A. Car: Worship, Podcast or Audible Book
B: Workout (3 to 5 times a week) Podcast or Book on tape
C: Come to church as much as possible
3. Do a fast this summer. Pick a screen, or all of them, and fast them for a season. Give that time to God, family or true fun.
Don’t commit the sin of Esau
Read 7 pages a day for a book a month. 15 pages for a book every two weeks or 30 pages a day for a book a week.
It’s  not a matter of doing what I do. The important thing is do you want to do what I did so that you can do what I do?
Life will rarely out grow you. If it does, in a matter of time, it will shrink back to you.
For your life to be Anything But Average, YOU must be Anything But Average.
Genesis 42:8 New American Standard
Vision: People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision.
Plan: A great plan executed without great people will never produce the desired results.
First who then what
